Description
Mechanism of action:
- In the limbic part of the brain, D2 blocks postsynaptic dopamine receptors.
- Inhibiting the reticular activating system and thus reducing nausea and hiccups.
Indications: Confusion – madness – autism – mania – nausea – severe hiccups
prohibited usage: Seizure history – patient in coma – insanity – brain tumor or history of brain surgery – allergy to this drug or other drugs and substances.
side effects: Akathisia – tardive dystonia – difficulty urinating – sensitivity to light – blood dyscrasia – neuroleptic malignant syndrome NMS
Drug doses:
- Chlorpromazine tablets 25 and 100 mg
- Syrup 25 mg in 25 ml
- Chlorpromazine injectable ampoule with a dose of 25 mg/5 ml
Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding: Category C
Interference effect: Antispasmodic drugs – sleeping or anxiety drugs – antihistamines – macrolide antibiotics
